On both the outbound and return journeys, there is an unsecured transfer in Abu Dhabi (there 3:25 hrs, back 9:35 hrs) or you can also make a longer stop and visit Dubai. Tickets need to be purchased for 2 separate reservations: Vienna - Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi - Maldives (transfer is at your own risk).
There are many dates to choose from November 2024 to February 2025. The main season here lasts from October to April (dry season), but we do not recommend traveling during Ramadan (28th February - 29th March 2025).

These airline tickets do not guarantee a transfer - in case of a delay and subsequent missing of the next flight, it is at your own responsibility. However, there is a longer transfer time which should be sufficient even in the event of a delay.
You arrive in the Maldives around 7:00 am and depart from the Maldives around 8:00 am - it may happen that some boats from the airport to the islands do not operate at appropriate times - find out directly at the accommodation if they have a boat on that day that connects to these flights. If not, if necessary, you need to spend the first or last night on the island of Hulhumalé near the airport, for example in hotel h78**** (recommended).
We can recommend these local islands in the Maldives: Ukulhas and Dhiffushi (we visited these two), but Thoddoo, Maafushi, Dhigurah, Gulhi or Rasdhoo are also great.
If you have a longer layover in Abu Dhabi, we recommend the Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport*** - it is directly at the airport. Or in town, we recommend Traders Hotel****, near the Grand Mosque and approximately 20 minutes by taxi from the airport for a few euros.
