Bari, the capital of the Apulia region, is a lively port city on the Adriatic coast that attracts visitors with its history, culture and gastronomy. It is particularly famous for the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, where the relics of the saint are kept, and the Cathedral of Saint Sabino, a magnificent example of Romanesque architecture. The old town, Bari Vecchia, is a maze of narrow streets with an authentic atmosphere, where you can see local women making “orecchiette” pasta by hand.

Bari is also a great starting point for discovering other gems of Apulia. Polignano a Mare, just a few kilometers to the south, is a beautiful coastal town built on limestone cliffs with crystal-clear water. Its iconic Lama Monachile beach is one of the most photographed in all of Italy. The city is also famous for being the location of the famous song “Volare”.

Another unique place is Alberobello, known for its traditional "trulli" houses with their peculiar conical roofs. This unique place is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a magical atmosphere like something out of a fairy tale. Walking through its streets is an unforgettable experience.

If you are fascinated by history, you cannot miss Matera, one of the oldest settlements in the world. It is famous for its cave dwellings, the "Sassi di Matera", which were once homes for people and are now converted into hotels, restaurants and museums. Matera is a place with a unique atmosphere and has even been the setting for many films, including Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ".

Bari and its surroundings offer a great combination of history, beautiful nature and excellent gastronomy. This region is ideal for those who want to discover the true southern Italy and experience its authentic charm.
