Check the arrival and departure times from the Maldives. If you arrive in the evening or depart in the morning, it may happen that some boats from the airport to the islands do not operate at suitable times. Check with your accommodation directly to see if they have a boat that connects you to these flights on that day. If not, you should spend the first or last night on the island of Hulhumalé near the airport, we recommend, for example, the h78**** hotel  - they will take you from the airport to the hotel and back for free.

We can recommend these local islands in the Maldives: Ukulhas and Dhiffushi (we visited these two), but Thoddoo, Maafushi, Dhigurah, Gulhi or Rasdhoo are also great.
