On the journey there and back there are unsecured transfers in Abu Dhabi (3:25 hrs there, 9:35 hrs back), or you can arrange to stop for longer and visit Dubai. Tickets need to be bought on 2 separate bookings: Vienna - Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi - Maldives (transfer is at your own risk).

With these tickets, there is no guaranteed transfer - in case of delay and subsequent missing of the next flight, it is at your own responsibility. However, there is a longer transfer time, which should be sufficient even in case of delay.
You will land in the Maldives around 7:00 am and depart from the Maldives around 8:00 am - it can happen that some boats from the airport to the islands do not operate at suitable times - find out directly at your accommodation if they have a boat that day that connects with these flights. If not, if necessary, you may need to spend the first or last night on Hulhumalé island near the airport, for example at h78**** Hotel (recommended).
We recommend these local islands in the Maldives: Ukulhas and Dhiffushi (which we visited), but Thoddoo, Maafushi, Dhigurah, Gulhi, or Rasdhoo are also great.
If you have a longer layover in Abu Dhabi, we recommend Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport***Hotel - which is located directly at the airport. Alternatively, in the city, we recommend Traders Hotel****, close to the Grand Mosque, and approximately 20 minutes by taxi from the airport costing just a few euros.
